Unfortunately we do not recommend use of the UNMER mat to women who are pregnant, especially in the first trimester. The UNMERA mat uses acupressure, which has been used to induce labor in some cases. Always consult your medical professional before using the Mat. Do not use UNMERA mat or Accessories if you have any of the following conditions:

Coagulation issues, or if you are using anticoagulant medication. The UNMERA mat can affect circulation and therefore can not be recommended to people with circulation and/or clotting issues.

Epilepsy - The UNMERA mat is covered in thousands of sharp spikes, making it hazardous if a person were to have a seizure while using the Mat.

Significant skin damage in the area of use, including pronounced skin inflammation, or large papilloma's. Skin conditions are at risk of being aggravated by UNMERA mat.

Neuropathy that has resulted in loss of sensation or sensory impairment, as this may impact a users ability to feel the sharpness of the spikes.

Pregnancy acupressure points are used in some cases to naturally induce labor (see previous FAQ).

Cardiovascular conditions The UNMERA mat can affect circulation and therefore can not be recommended to people with cardiovascular conditions.

Yes, children can use UNMERA mat. We suggest children are thoroughly supervised though due to the sharpness of the spikes. A child’s skin is particularly sensitive, so we suggest placing a linen cloth or cotton t-shirt between the mat and body and limiting the session to 10-15 minutes.

For best results, use UNMERA mat every day, and whenever you feel a specific need. We recommend making UNMERA mat part of your daily routine. For example, use it after brushing your teeth, once you are ready for bed each evening. Or place it on your office chair for the first 20 minutes of your working day.

The UNMERA mat works on contact. When you place the Mat against your body, the spikes exert pressure on your skin.Start by applying the Mat to your neck, shoulders, back, or legs, as these areas are the most commonly affected by tension. However, any area of your body can be targeted. There is no limit for time or frequency of a UNMERA session, and it is completely normal to fall asleep on the Mat.

We recommend you aim for 15 minutes or more to experience the full acupressure effect. For your first few sessions, you can wear a thin t-shirt, or place a pillow case over your Mat while your body adjusts. However, bare skin is best to experience the full UNMERA sensation. Use your Mat on any surface. Common places include in bed, on the floor, on a seat, or on a couch. Softer surfaces provide more 'give', so this is a great place to start.

UNMERA mat is designed for individual usage. Due to considerations of personal hygiene, it is advisable to use special disinfectants between uses if sharing your UNMERA mat.

Washing UNMERA mat is simple.

1. Remove the inner coconut fiber or buckwheat hull filler, and separate the outer linen cover from the inner cotton cover.

2. Hand-wash the exterior linen cover with cold water and mild – preferably natural – detergent, and leave to dry naturally. Do not machine-wash.

3. UNMERA signature camellia massage elements can be gently cleaned with a soft brush, and sprinkled with a disinfectant solution between sessions, if needed.

4. The white cotton inner-case can be hand or machine washed, on a normal cotton cycle.5. The coconut fiber filler should not come into contact with water or be cleaned. It’s absolutely not necessary since coconut fiber is naturally dust- and odor-resistant.
